Helen gained first-hand experience with autism as she helped her son face unique challenges. At the same time, she learned to overcome the barriers to finding adequate services for her son.
Helen's experience raising a child with special needs led her to complete an M.A. in clinical psychology and certification as a life coach. Her work evolved into her practice, WithinU Life Coaching, which offers life coaching and psychotherapy services to adults. Her areas of expertise include working with adults with special needs.
As a psychotherapist, Helen C. Hipp uses an inspirational humanistic approach that combines positive beliefs and modalities such as Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT). Her practice helps individuals realize their goals in work and in life helping clients realize their potential through change and self-directed growth.
Helen has authored articles for Family Works and Washington Family Magazine and has been a contributor as a special needs consultant to FOX44 News in Burlington, Vermont. Her new adventure book, A Different Kind of Safari puts into words the essence of Helen's teachings by offering up lighthearted, ever-changing perspectives that transform personal challenges into opportunities.
Helen finds joy in the companionship of those around her. She experiences the fullness of life physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually by painting, snorkeling, and spending time with her horse, family and friends absorbing the gifts that nature has to offer.
